An existing road viaduct in Milan, upgraded to current standards with a full deck replacement and a wider carriageway, while the original piers and foundations stay in service.

MODO developed the detailed design for the static retrofit of the existing viaduct and its substructures, including demolition of the existing deck, a new steel-concrete composite deck with a widened carriageway, and seismic upgrading.

Technical highlights: a new composite twin-girder deck sized for the wider roadway, load paths into the retained piers rechecked and strengthened, and elastomeric isolators to bring the structure up to seismic standards.
